ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Futoshiki

Futoshiki is a fun puzzle game that is like a mix between Sudoku and a crossword puzzle.

In Futoshiki, you have to fill in a grid with numbers. But, there are rules that you have to follow. You can only use each number once in each row and each column. That means if you use the number 5 in one row, you can't use it in that same row again. And if you use the number 3 in one column, you can't use it in that same column again.

But wait, there's another rule! The numbers in the grid also have to follow a certain order. This means that the number 1 always has to be smaller than 2, which always has to be smaller than 3, and so on. If you have a greater than (>) or less than (<) sign between two numbers in the grid, that means that the number on the left has to be smaller or larger than the number on the right.

So, to solve a Futoshiki puzzle, you have to use logic and deduction to figure out which numbers go where in the grid while following these rules. The puzzles come in different sizes, and they can range from easy to very challenging. But, with practice, you can become a Futoshiki master!
