Galactic year

A galactic year is the amount of time it takes for the Earth to orbit all the way around the Milky Way Galaxy, which is our galaxy. It's a long time - around 226 million Earth years! That means if we could go in a spaceship and fly around the whole galaxy, it would take us 226 million years to make one trip. That's why we call it a galactic year!
