ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Galician independence

Okay, imagine you and your friend made a really cool club together. You are both in charge and make decisions together. But one day, your friend says that they want to leave the club and start their own club without you. That is what is happening with Galicia.

Galicia is a part of Spain, but some people in Galicia think that they should be their own separate country, kind of like when you and your friend wanted to have your own separate clubs. These people believe that Galicia should have its own government, make its own laws, and decide how to spend its money.

But not everyone in Galicia agrees with this idea. Some people think it's better to stay as part of Spain because they get help from the Spanish government and don't want to lose that.

So, it's kind of like a big kid's decision to make. Do they want to stay with their friend and make decisions together, or break off and make their own decisions without the help of their friend? It's a complicated issue, but it's important for everyone to listen to each other and make a decision that is best for everyone involved.
