ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gall

Gall is a lumpy, bumpy growth that forms on plants. Imagine if you saw a little bump on your finger - that's kind of what gall looks like on a plant. It happens when something called a "gall maker" (like a tiny bug) decides to lay an egg on a plant. The plant gets mad and starts to grow around the egg, creating the gall. The gall helps protect the egg until it hatches, kinda like a little house for the baby bug. It can be kind of cool to see different kinds of gall on different plants, but too much of it can actually harm the plant.
