Gasoline gallon equivalent

Gasoline gallon equivalent (GGE) is a way of measuring energy. It is used to compare how much energy can be made from different kinds of fuel. For example, a GGE of one is equal to the energy in one gallon of gasoline. Depending on the type of fuel, like electricity, natural gas, or ethanol, it takes a different amount of fuel to get the same energy as a gallon of gasoline. Knowing GGE helps people know how much of different fuels they will need to get the same amount of energy.
