Gaussian blur is like a smudge tool. It softens, or blurs, an image. It's like taking a piece of paper and gently smudging a drawing so that the lines and shapes look softer and less sharp. With Gaussian blur, you can adjust the amount of bluring so you can have a little bit of blur or a lot of blur.
