ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gender inequality in Australia

Gender inequality in Australia means that men and women are not treated equally. It means that some things are easier for men and some things are easier for women. For example, some jobs pay men more than women for doing the same work, and some people think that certain jobs are only for boys or only for girls. This is not fair and it can make girls and women feel bad about themselves.

It's like if you and your friend both did the same amount of work, but your friend got more toys than you as a reward. You would feel pretty upset, right? That's how lots of girls and women feel when they realize they are not being treated equally.

In Australia, gender inequality is a big problem. Women are often paid less for doing the same job as men, and they are underrepresented in certain fields like science and politics. Women also face more discrimination and violence than men, which is not okay. This means that we need to work together to make things better, so that everyone can have the same opportunities and be treated fairly, no matter who they are.
