Gene family

So, remember how we talked about how every one of us has genes, which are like little instructions that tell our body how to work? Well, sometimes there are a bunch of genes that are really similar to each other, like they come from the same family.

Think of it like a big family of dolls. Just like how some of the dolls might look really similar because they all come from the same family, some genes might look really similar because they come from the same gene family.

But here's where it gets tricky. Sometimes these genes might have slightly different instructions. So, just like how one of the dolls in the family might have a different outfit or hair color, one of the genes might have a different instruction that tells your body to do something a little bit differently.

Having all these similar genes in a family can actually be really helpful. It gives your body lots of different options and ways to make sure everything is working properly. And it also makes it easier for scientists to study them and learn more about how our bodies work.
