Genetic studies on Jews

Genetic studies on Jews look at the genes (specific parts of DNA) of people who identify as Jewish or have Jewish heritage or ancestry. Those genes help us to better understand how people are related to one another, and how their physical features (such as eye color or height) are passed down and shared across generations. Genetic studies help scientists learn more about how certain diseases and medical conditions are passed down, how certain traits are passed down, and how different populations of Jews are related to one another.
