Geological Society of America

They study all kinds of things related to rocks and the Earth, like volcanoes, earthquakes, mountains, and fossils - which are really old animals and plants that have been turned into rock over time.

They meet with other grown-ups who also love rocks, and talk about their research and discoveries. They even write special papers and books to share what they know with other people who are interested in rocks. They also help people like builders, miners, and engineers who need to know about rocks and the Earth to do their jobs.

So, in a way, they're like your teacher who really loves spelling, but instead of focusing on words, they focus on rocks and the Earth. Cool, right?
