Geology of the Moon

Geology is the study of Earth and other planets like the moon. The moon is mostly made of rocks. Its surface is covered with craters from many different types of asteroids and small comets that have hit its surface over millions of years. We don't know much about what is inside the moon, but scientists think that it may have an iron core, mantle, and crust. The moon has no atmosphere, so it doesn't have the same kind of weather or winds that Earth has. Instead, it experiences "cratering" where rocks from other planets hit its surface and create craters. These craters are very interesting for scientists to study because they can tell us about the moon's history.
