German eastward expansion

German eastward expansion is when Germany (a country in Europe) tried to expand or take over land to the east. This happened when Adolf Hitler was in power. Hitler wanted Germany to become a powerful and strong nation, and thought taking over land would help. He tried to invade and take control of eastern countries like Poland, Ukraine, and Russia. This resulted in World War II, which was a big conflict between many countries. People in eastern countries had to fight for their freedom and to stop the German eastward expansion. Sadly, many people were killed in the war.
