Medieval demography

Medieval demography is about learning how many people lived in the Middle Ages (the time period between about 500 and 1500 years ago). To understand how many people there were during this time, historians look at different kinds of records and evidence, like birth records, census records, and tax records. They also study historical archives and look for things like how many people owned land during this time. By looking at all of this evidence, we can learn how many people were alive throughout the Middle Ages, where they lived, and what kind of work they did.
