ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Gesture

Hey kiddo, do you know what a gesture is? A gesture is when we use our hands or other parts of our body to express what we are feeling or what we want to say.

For example, if someone asks us if we are hungry and we nod our head up and down while rubbing our stomach, that's a gesture that means "yes, I am hungry."

We can also use gestures to greet people, like waving hello or blowing a kiss. When we are happy, we might jump up and down or give someone a high-five, and when we are sad, we might cover our face with our hands or hug ourselves.

Gestures are like a secret language we use without even realizing it. Sometimes we use the same gestures as other people in our culture, and sometimes we make up our own gestures with friends and family.

So, next time you want to express something but don't know the words, try using a gesture instead!
