Geysers on Mars

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a really tall fountain that shoots water and steam up into the air? That's kind of like what a geyser is.

On Mars, there are some areas that scientists think might have geysers. But instead of shooting water, these geysers might shoot out gas and dust from under the planet's surface.

Do you know how when you blow up a balloon and then let it go, the air rushes out really fast? That's sort of like what happens with these geysers on Mars. Something underneath the surface builds up pressure, and then suddenly shoots out in a big burst.

Scientists are still trying to learn more about these possible geysers on Mars, and there's still a lot we don't know. But it's really exciting to think about what else we might discover about our neighboring planet!
