Ghost word

Sometimes when people write or print things, they make mistakes. One of these types of mistakes is when they accidentally put a word that doesn't really exist into a book or article. This kind of word is called a "ghost word." It's like a word that is just a pretend word, because nobody ever really said it or used it before.

Sometimes ghost words happen because someone makes a mistake when they write a word down, like missing a letter. For example, if someone meant to write "ghost" but accidentally wrote "ghoot," that could become a ghost word. And sometimes ghost words happen because people use words they don't really know the meaning of, and they accidentally make up a new word in the process.

Even though ghost words aren't real, sometimes they end up getting used by other people because they think it's a real word. But just because someone uses a ghost word, it doesn't mean that it's a real word. That's why it's always important to double-check words to make sure they actually have definitions and are spelled correctly, so we know for sure what we're reading or writing.
