Giant-impact hypothesis

The giant-impact hypothesis is a scientific theory that explains how the moon was created. Scientists believe that a long time ago, a giant planet-sized object called Theia crashed into Earth. This collision was so powerful that it caused rocks from both Theia and Earth to break off, and pieces of Theia mixed in with the pieces of Earth. All these pieces began to move around Earth and eventually all collected together to form our Moon!
