Giclée

Okay kiddo, so have you ever seen a really nice painting? Maybe in an art museum or on the wall of someone's house? Well, sometimes people want to make copies of those paintings so that more people can see them and enjoy them.

But just taking a picture of the painting with a camera won't make a good copy. That's where something called a giclée comes in. A giclée is a special way of printing a painting that makes it look just like the original.

First, the painting is carefully scanned into a computer. Then, a special printer uses fancy technology to squirt tiny droplets of ink onto the paper. Each droplet is a different color, so all together they make the painting look just like the real thing!

But wait, there's more! The ink that a giclée printer uses is special too. It's made with really high quality pigments that won't fade over time. That means the copy of the painting will look just as good 10 or 20 years from now as it does today.

So, that's what a giclée is - a special way of copying a painting that makes it look just like the original, and will last a long time without fading. Cool, huh?
