ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Global Positioning System

A global positioning system (GPS) is like a navigation system that uses satellites to tell you where you are in the world. It is like a map, but instead of you having to look at a map, it uses satellites to find you exactly where you are. The satellites send signals to a GPS receiver (in a device like a phone or a car) and the receiver translates those signals into information about where you are and where you need to go.
