Globster

Okay, so sometimes big and scary things wash up on the beach, like a giant blob of weirdness. That’s what people call a globster. Scientists think it’s probably some kind of animal that died and floated in the ocean for a really long time.

The ocean is big and full of all different kinds of creatures, from tiny plankton to huge whales. Sometimes, when an animal dies and sinks to the bottom, it gets eaten by other animals or decomposes. But sometimes, the water is so cold and the pressure is so high that it preserves the animal’s body, kind of like how putting food in the fridge or freezer keeps it fresh for longer.

Eventually, this preserved animal might get pushed to shore by waves and wind. That’s when people find it and say, “Whoa, what is that thing? It’s big and gross and definitely not something you see every day!” But even though it might look scary, it’s actually just a normal part of how the ocean works.
