Glucose syrup

Glucose syrup is a very sweet sticky liquid that is made from corn starch. It looks like honey or syrup and can be used in a lot of different foods and drinks to make them sweeter.

Corn starch is a substance that comes from corn, which is a type of grain. This corn starch is made up of tiny particles that are used to make glucose syrup. To turn the corn starch into glucose syrup, the particles are mixed with water and some special natural enzymes that help break down the starch.

Enzymes are like special scissors that can cut big things (like starch) into smaller pieces (like glucose). When the enzymes mix with the corn starch and water, they start snipping away and turning the starch into smaller and smaller pieces. The end result is a sweet, sticky liquid called glucose syrup that is made up of lots of small pieces of glucose.

Glucose is a type of sugar that your body uses for energy. When you eat foods that have glucose syrup in them, your body breaks down the syrup into glucose and then uses the glucose for energy. People use glucose syrup in all sorts of things, like candies, baked goods, and even some medicines.

So in summary, glucose syrup is a sweet, sticky liquid made from corn starch that is used to make foods and drinks taste sweeter, and it is made up of tiny pieces of glucose that your body can use for energy.
