ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

God gene

Okay, kiddo, imagine that people are like a big puzzle, and inside our bodies there are lots of tiny pieces that make up who we are. One of those tiny pieces is called the "god gene."

Now, this god gene doesn't actually make us believe in God, but it can make us feel spiritual or connected to something higher than ourselves. Some scientists think that this gene might have helped our ancestors survive by making them feel like they were part of a bigger community or had a purpose in life.

But not everyone has this gene, and even if you do, it doesn't mean you'll automatically believe in a God or religion. It's just one little piece in the bigger puzzle of who we are as human beings.
