Golem effect

The Golem Effect is a term that is used to describe the idea that when someone is labeled or treated as if they are not able to do something, they end up believing it themselves and will not even try to do it. It's like an expectations that become a self-fulfilling prophecy. For example, if you tell a child they are no good at math, they will start to think they won't be good at it and they won't try anymore. So the expectation (that they aren't good at math) comes true!
