Gravity is the force that keeps us and everything else on Earth stuck to the ground, but other things in the universe can also have their own "gravity" and pull things around them. This gravity force is called gravitational potential. Gravitational potential can be imagined as an invisible hill that objects have to “climb” up in order to move away from the source of the “gravity.” The higher up an object is, the more energy it has because it’s harder to climb back down that hill. The bigger the object, the bigger the hill and the more energy it will take for an object to move away.
