Grey box model

Okay kiddo, let's talk about a grey box model. Imagine you're playing with blocks and you have a box that's partly full and partly empty. That's a grey box - it's not completely full or completely empty, but somewhere in between.

A grey box model works in a similar way. It's a type of computer program or model that's somewhere between a black box and a white box model.

A black box model is like a mystery box - you put something in one end and get something out the other, but you don't really know what's going on inside. A white box model, on the other hand, is like a clear box - you can see what's inside and how it all works.

A grey box model is a bit of both. You can see some of the things that are happening inside, but not everything. It's like you can see part of what's inside the box of blocks, but not everything.

In the case of a computer program or model, this means that you have some information about how it works - maybe you know some of the inputs and outputs, or you can see some of the code, but you don't know everything.

So a grey box model is kind of like a mystery box with a little window you can peek through - you have some idea of what's going on inside, but not the whole picture.
