Gropecunt Lane

Gropecunt Lane is the name of a street that existed in medieval England. At the time, people were not very polite about sex and used many different words to talk about it. "Gropecunt" was one such word that meant touching someone's private parts in a sexual way.

As the name suggests, Gropecunt Lane was known for its sex-related businesses, such as brothels and pubs that catered to workers in the area. Because of this, the street had a reputation for being a bit wild and unsavory.

However, as time went by, attitudes towards sex changed, and the word "gropecunt" fell out of use. People started to view the name of the street as inappropriate and offensive. In the 20th century, many of these "Gropecunt" streets, including Gropecunt Lane, were renamed to something less scandalous.

Today, the site of the original Gropecunt Lane is a pedestrianized street in the city of London that has been renamed as Grape Street.
