ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ground effect (cars)

When a car is driving really fast, it creates a sort of wind that goes underneath it. This wind pushes the car down towards the ground, and helps it stay very close to the surface.

This is called ground effect, and it makes the car go faster and turn corners better because it has more grip on the road.

It's sort of like when you're pushing a toy car across the floor - if you press it down a little bit, it goes faster and stays on the floor better. Cars that race really fast need this extra grip to stay on the road and go as fast as they can.
