ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ground provisions

Ground provisions are a bunch of different yummy vegetables and roots that grow underground. They're called "ground provisions" because they're often grown in the ground!

Some examples of ground provisions are yams (like sweet potatoes), cassava, dasheen, and yucca. If you've ever eaten fries made from cassava or yucca, you've had ground provisions!

People have been eating ground provisions for a really long time, and they're a really important part of food in many parts of the world. They're very nutritious and have lots of vitamins and minerals that our bodies need to stay healthy.

So next time you bite into a delicious yam or munch on some cassava fries, remember that you're eating ground provisions!
