Guillotine partition

A guillotine partition is a fancy way of dividing a big rectangle into smaller rectangles, just like how you divide a cake into smaller pieces. Imagine a big cake that you want to divide into smaller pieces so everyone can have a slice. You can't just cut it randomly or some people might get really big slices and others might get really small slices. That's where a guillotine partition comes in.

First, you imagine lines that go straight down from the top of the cake to the bottom, cutting it into smaller rectangles. Then, you imagine lines that go straight across from one side of the cake to the other, cutting it into even smaller rectangles. The resulting smaller rectangles can be arranged in any number of ways, depending on how many straight lines you imagine cutting the cake with.

So basically, a guillotine partition is a way of dividing a large rectangle into smaller rectangles that are evenly sized and arranged in an organized way, just like cutting a cake evenly so everyone can get a piece :)
