Gynogenesis

Hey there! Gynogenesis is a fancy word that means making babies using only the mom's genetic material. It's like when you only use your mom's recipe to make cookies, instead of adding any ingredients from your dad's recipe.

In animals, this happens when the mom's egg is combined with a sperm, but the sperm's genetic material doesn't actually go into making the baby. Instead, the sperm just helps the egg develop into a little baby.

This is different from normal reproduction where both the mom's egg and the dad's sperm contribute genetic material to make a baby.

Gynogenesis can happen in some animals like certain fish and amphibians. It's pretty rare in mammals like us humans, but scientists are always learning new things so who knows what they might discover in the future!
