ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Halal

Halal means that certain things, like food or meat that Muslims can eat, must be prepared following specific rules. These rules are very important to Muslims because they believe they were given by God to keep them healthy both physically and spiritually. For example, Muslims can't eat pork, and they must say a prayer before eating to thank God for providing them with the food. Additionally, the animal being sold must be slaughtered by a trained Muslim butcher, and it must be done in a specific way that is kind to the animal. This way ensures that the meat is safe to consume for the Muslim community. Lastly, the food must be prepared in a clean and hygienic environment. So, in simple terms, halal refers to the preparation and consumption of food and other things according to Islamic law.
