Hasty pudding

Okay kiddo, so hasty pudding is a yummy dessert made with milk, sugar, and cornmeal. People have been eating hasty pudding for a long time, like hundreds of years! It's kind of like a thick, creamy porridge that you can eat with things like cinnamon, brown sugar, or even fruit on top.

Now, the word "hasty" in hasty pudding doesn't mean that it's been made quickly or hastily. Instead, it comes from an old English word for "pastry" or "pudding." And sometimes people would make this pudding really quickly if they didn't have a lot of time to cook.

In America, hasty pudding is kind of a special thing. There's a college in Massachusetts called Harvard, and every year they put on a big show called the Hasty Pudding Theatricals. It's sort of like a musical comedy with lots of silly songs and dancing. And after the show, the audience gets to eat hasty pudding!

So there you have it, hasty pudding is a delicious dessert that's been around for a long time, and even Harvard puts on a show about it!
