ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Haversack Ruse

Okay kiddo, have you ever played hide and seek? Imagine playing a game where you are trying to find something really important, like a treasure. Now, imagine you have a bag (which we call a haversack) and you put something in the bag that will make the person looking for the treasure think they found it, even though they really haven't. That's called the haversack ruse!

Let's say you put a really shiny rock in your haversack and hide it somewhere. The person looking for the treasure might see the haversack and think they found the treasure inside. They might get really excited and think they won the game, but when they open the bag, all they find is a shiny rock.

The haversack ruse is a trick that people use in real life too! It's used in situations where someone is trying to distract or deceive another person. For example, a spy might use a haversack ruse to make someone think they found secret information when really it's just a decoy.

So remember, the haversack ruse is like playing hide and seek but trickier! It's a way of making someone think they found something really important when they really haven't.
