Headframe

Have you ever seen a big building with really tall metal structures sticking out of the top? They kind of look like big ladders or towers with wheels on the top. That's called a headframe!

A headframe is a big machine that's used in mines to help bring rocks and minerals up from deep inside the ground. It works kind of like a big elevator, but instead of going up and down like a regular elevator, it goes up and down on an angle, like a steep ramp.

The headframe is made up of lots of different parts, like the big metal frame that holds everything together, the big wheel that helps the cables move up and down, and the cables themselves. The cables are really strong and they're what pulls the big lift up and down the ramp.

Miners use the headframe to get down into the mine in the first place - they climb into the lift and are lowered down into the mine. Then, once they're down there, they use it to bring up all the rocks and minerals they dig out of the ground so they can be sorted and processed.

Overall, the headframe is a really important machine for mining, because without it, it would be really hard to get all the valuable materials that we use every day out of the ground!
