ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Health economics

Health economics is like a person who helps us understand how to use our money to keep ourselves healthy. Just like how you have to decide what toys to buy with your allowance, the government and other people have to decide how to use their money to keep everyone in a country healthy.

Some things are expensive, like going to the hospital or getting medicine, so decisions have to be made about how much money should be spent on each thing. Health economists help figure out the best way to spend money on healthcare so that everyone can get the care they need without spending too much money.

They also look at things like how different people use healthcare, why some people get sicker than others, and how to prevent people from getting sick in the first place. With all this information, health economists can make better decisions about how to spend money on healthcare and keep people healthy.
