Hen Ogledd

Hen Ogledd (pronounced “hen-OG-leth”) is a fancy name for a group of people who lived a very long time ago in a place called northern Britain. They lived there a really long time ago, all the way back to the 6th century. That's almost 1500 years ago!

The people who lived in Hen Ogledd spoke in a funny way, and their language was different from what we speak today. They had their own unique culture and traditions, and they were known for being really good at things like music, poetry, and art.

One of the most famous people from the Hen Ogledd was a guy named Aneirin. He was a poet who wrote a very special poem called the Gododdin. It tells the story of some people from Hen Ogledd who fought against their enemies in battle. The poem is very important because it helps us understand what life was like back then.

The Hen Ogledd people were very connected to the land they lived on. They were always looking for ways to make their communities better, and they weren't afraid of hard work. They used farming, hunting, and fishing as ways to provide for themselves and their families.
