Hindu units of time are ways of measuring time that have been used in India for thousands of years. They are based on the Hindu calendar, which divides a year into 12 months and each month has two fortnights or two halves. Each day is also divided into 8 parts called Ghati or Muhurta. Each part is equal to 48 minutes. The smallest measure of time is the 'vilamb', which is equal to the time taken for three blinks of an eye. Then there is the 'Kashtha', which is equal to two vilamps and is equal to six blinks of an eye. You can also use 'Palas' to measure time and it is equal to thirty kashthas, which is equal to ninety blinks of an eye!
