ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Historian's fallacy

The historian's fallacy is when someone looks back at something that happened in history and thinks that people at the time knew everything that we know now. But that's not always true because people back then didn't have all the same information or knowledge that we have today. It's like looking at a picture and thinking that the people in the picture knew that it was going to be a famous picture, even though they might not have thought anything of it at the time it was taken. So, it's important to remember that we can't always judge people from the past based on what we know now.
