Okay, imagine a big book with pictures that tells stories, but instead of people drawing the pictures by hand, they use special machines called cameras to make them move. That's what animation is!
So, in Russia a long time ago, people started making these moving picture books too. One of the very first animated films made in Russia was called "The Cameraman's Revenge" in 1912. It was about bugs who acted like people and had funny adventures, kind of like a cartoon.
Then, during the Soviet Union time, the government wanted to use animation to teach people and make them feel proud of their country. So, many Russian animators started making films about Russian folklore, history, and even space exploration.
One of the most famous Russian animated characters is Cheburashka, a cute, furry creature who lives in a forest with his friends. He was created in 1966, and he became very popular in Russia and even in Japan! There were many cartoons and children's books about Cheburashka.
Today, Russian animators continue to make wonderful films that are enjoyed by children and adults all over the world. They can use computers now to help make the pictures move, but the idea is still the same - to tell stories that make us laugh, feel happy, or even a little bit scared!
