Radio is a type of technology that lets people send signals, or messages, through the air using waves. Radio waves are different from light waves or sound waves, which is why you can't see or hear them. People have been using radio signals for a long time.
In the 1800s, an inventor named Michael Faraday figured out that electricity and magnetism can make invisible radio waves. Later, another inventor named Guglielmo Marconi helped build the first working radio. He used radio waves to send signals across the Atlantic Ocean in 1901, even though it had never been done before!
By the 1920s, radio waves were used to broadcast radio shows and music to people's homes. People even made special radios so they could listen to these broadcasts. These days, we use different types of radio signals to do many things like make phone calls, broadcast TV shows, and even listen to the radio on our phones.
