Hongaku is a type of Buddhist teachings that believe all people have innately pure souls, and that by practicing Buddhism, we can reach enlightenment and open up our true nature. It was founded by the monk Shinran in the 13th century, and is based on the idea of dependant origination, or the idea that everything in the universe is interconnected and part of a cycle of cause and effect. To reach enlightenment, a person must have faith in their own true nature and the Buddha, practice Buddhist teachings diligently, and be an exemplary person. By following these teachings, one can become free from suffering and realize the interconnected nature of the world and its true beauty.
