ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Hospitality

Okay little buddy, have you ever been to a friend's house for a sleepover? Do you remember how they were really nice to you and made sure you felt comfortable and had everything you needed? That's kind of like what hospitality is all about, but on a bigger scale!

When someone works in hospitality, they are usually working in a place where people stay or come to eat, like a hotel, restaurant, or even a theme park! Their job is to make sure that everyone who comes in feels happy and comfortable, just like when you went to your friend's house.

Let's say you're staying in a hotel with your family. The people who work at the hotel, like the front desk people, the ones who clean the rooms, and the ones who cook and serve the food at the hotel restaurant, are all part of the hospitality team. They want to make sure that you and your family have a great time and feel like you're at home.

They might give you a warm welcome, ask if you need help with your bags, and show you to your room. They'll make sure that your room is clean, tidy, and has everything you need, like fresh towels, extra pillows, and maybe even some snacks! And if you go down to the hotel restaurant for breakfast, they'll be there to greet you and make sure you have a great meal.

The people who work in hospitality also want to make sure that you're having fun and enjoying your time at the hotel. So they might have a pool for you to swim in, games for you to play, or special events like movie nights or arts and crafts for kids.

The most important thing about hospitality is that everyone who comes in feels welcome and happy. So if you ever work in hospitality when you grow up, make sure to be extra nice and make people feel like they're at home!
