Host (biology)

Every living thing needs a place to live, just like we have our homes. In biology, the word "host" refers to the place where a parasite (\**yuck\**) lives inside or on top of another living thing. Think of it like a parasite is visiting someone's house without being invited!

Let's say there's a bug that gets into your hair and starts living there. You would be the "host" of that bug because it's living on you. But this doesn't just happen with bugs and humans; it happens with all sorts of living things.

For example, some bacteria can live inside your body without causing any harm. That means your body is the host of those bacteria. And there are even parasites that live inside plants and animals, using them as a home and taking what they need to survive.

So in biology, the host is basically the living thing that provides a home for another living thing. It's like having a guest in your house, except in this case, the "guest" is usually not invited and is taking up space without giving anything back!
