House Un-American Activities Committee

The House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) was a group of adults who wanted to investigate Americans who they thought were doing bad things. They thought that some Americans were working with enemies of the United States of America.

The HUAC started in 1938 and was active until the late 1970s. During this time, they investigated many people and groups, especially those who they thought were Communists. The HUAC would ask people questions about their activities and their friends. Sometimes they would give people a test to see if they were telling the truth.

Some people thought that the HUAC was not fair. They believed that it was wrong to try to punish people just because they had different political ideas. Others thought that the HUAC was important because it helped to keep America safe from people who wanted to hurt it.

Overall, the HUAC was a group of adults who tried to protect America, but sometimes people thought that they went too far and were not fair.
