Household production function

Imagine you are a little kid and you have a lot of things to do at home like cleaning your room, washing dishes, and helping your mom with cooking. These things are called household chores. Just like how you need different things to do each chore, your mom also needs different things to do all the household chores. These things could be cleaning products, utensils, and appliances like a vacuum cleaner or a washing machine.

Now, if we take all these things your mom needs to do chores, we can make a list that helps her to do all the things she needs to do around the house. This list is called a household production function. It's like a recipe that tells your mom what she needs and how much of it she'll need to get all the chores done.

For example, if your mom wants to bake a cake, she'll need flour, sugar, eggs, and butter. The recipe on the back of the flour bag tells her how much of each ingredient she'll need to make the cake taste good. Similarly, the household production function tells your mom how much of each thing she'll need to get the chores done quickly and efficiently.

In simpler terms, the household production function is just a fancy name for a list of things your mom needs to do chores, so she can get everything done faster and easier.
