The Huguenot Monument is a big statue that was made to remember a group of people called the Huguenots. These were French people who lived a long, long time ago and who believed in a different way of practicing religion. They wanted to be able to worship in their own way, but the rulers of France didn't like that and made things very hard for them.
Many Huguenots had to leave France and go to other countries where they could practice their religion without being punished. Some of them even went to the United States and played a big role in shaping its history. The Huguenot Monument was made to honor these brave people and to remind us all of how important it is to be able to believe and practice what we want without fear of being hurt.
