Huguenots were people from France who left their home in the late 1600s. They were Protestant Christians, and because of some religious laws in France, they chose to leave the country and settle somewhere else. They ended up in many different places around the world, including South Africa. In South Africa, the Huguenots brought with them their skills in business, industry, and farming. This meant that they could start a new life in South Africa and have a better chance at success. To this day, many of the people in South Africa are descended from the Huguenots, and some of the things that they brought with them are still part of life in South Africa.
