Hull (watercraft)

A hull is the main body of a boat or ship that sits in the water. Think of it like the bathtub you like to play with your toys in.

The hull is shaped like a long, narrow bowl that holds the water around the boat or ship. The shape of the hull is important because it helps the boat or ship move smoothly through the water.

Some hulls are round and fat - like a balloon - and some are long and thin - like a hotdog. Some boats have flat bottoms and some are shaped like a V.

The hull is made out of materials like wood, metal, or plastic, and it can have all sorts of cool features like windows, doors, and even a little ramp that you can walk on to get on and off the boat.

Without the hull, boats and ships would just float aimlessly in the water. So, it's a really important part of any watercraft.
