Human factors and ergonomics

Human factors and ergonomics is the study of how the design of things such as equipment, furniture, and tools can have an effect on the people who use them. It helps make sure that things like chairs and keyboards are comfortable for people to use, and that the shapes and sizes of objects are best suited for how people move and interact with them. For example, an ergonomic chair has adjustable arms and back support that help people sit comfortably for a long time. The shape of an ergonomic keyboard helps make sure fingers don't get too tired from typing.
