ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Humid continental

Okay, imagine you live somewhere where it's really cold in the winter and hot in the summer. That's what we call a "humid continental" climate.

Here's why:

"Humid" means there's a lot of moisture in the air, which makes it feel sticky and damp. This is because the area gets a lot of rainfall, snowfall, or both.

"Continental" means that the climate is affected by being near a continent (a big piece of land) rather than the ocean. This can make the weather more extreme, with really cold winters and really hot summers.

So, if you live in a humid continental climate, you can expect lots of moisture in the air and a wide range of temperatures throughout the year!
